Bellephon Poodles is Dr Bridget Green and family.

Dr Green turned to dog breeding after a brain injury put an end to her career as an academic scientist. Her research expertise was embryological development, and the influence of the female genes and environment on offspring development, in fishes. Dr Green worked in sensory development labs for eight years and uses this in-depth understanding of sensory development to raise pups in a way that nurtures their natural physiological development and confidence.  If you are interested you can check out her research ‪Bridget Green - ‪Google Scholar. The majority of her research was on how the female health and condition influences offspring traits, growth, health and movement.

With this knowledge and expertise she can review current best practice in puppy raising and animal husbandry and apply to Bellephon husbandry practices, whelping and raising pups.

The whole family is involved in raising pups and caring for adults.

Our philosophy

Healthy, happy and loved are the core values we bring to the care, husbandry and breeding of standard poodles. Our primary goal is happy dogs who lived rich and fulfilled lives. We strive for this for our adult, juvenile and puppy dogs.  To achieve this in our adult dogs we enable them to live active and fun lives where their breed specific needs are met. Each day brings a different activity to help shape and nurture our smart and athletic dogs. Our dogs swim, chase projectiles in the water, sniff in the woods, run in parkland and accompany their human on leash walks. They can follow scent trails, flush birds and fetch from the water. They live in our home and are our loved pets.

What we aim for

We aim for calm, confident, sweet natured, biddable dogs and this is evident in the success of a number of our pups have had as assistance or therapy dogs

We do show dogs in the conformation ring. This is not our primary goal, but participating in conformation competitions allows us to get external objective assessments of the quality of our poodles. A number of our breeding bitches have earned the title of Australian Champion, and have numerous wins. We have travelled to the mainland to compete in poodle specific shosa, Royal shows and have also been awarded at FCI (International Canine Federation) and A20 (Asia, Africa & Oceania) shows.

Our poodles are demonstrating the versatility of the breed and excelling in sports competitions such as Tricks, Scent Work, Lure Coursing and Working Pack Dog.
